Simtech Solutions, Inc.
Project Management
Project Management, System Design, and Implementation Services
The team at Simtech Solutions Inc. has a broad knowledge base in the technical realm as do most IT consulting firms.   What differentiates Simtech is that the company also has a strong understanding of the business world.   Simtech president, Matt Simmonds, graduated Bentley College back in 1996 with a degree in Finance.   As a finance major with strong logic-oriented skills he landed a job with a distribution software development firm in Providence, RI firm, Daly & Wolcott, where they placed him into a boot-camp style training program to teach him how to write software.  Two years later Simtech Solutions Inc. was founded as it became apparent that this unique blend of technical and business skills was desperately in need.

With the emergence of the Internet, Simtech Solutions Inc. naturally progressed into a realm where the company has been able to continuously demonstrate their abilities for implementing technical solutions to address the unique business needs of their customers.  The tools available for creating robust web-based applications continue to evolve and Simtech has made contributions to these tools that are changing the way the Internet works.  You may have heard the term “web 2.0” lately which refers to a transition with the Internet from what was merely a collection of websites to a full-fledged computing platform that serves web applications to the public. In the web 2.0 world, powerful applications that used to only be available on your PC or Mac are now being made available everywhere to anyone that has any device that can connect to the Internet.

The programming staff at Simtech has been developing software using application development languages geared towards the web 2.0 that are still in beta form.   The term "beta" refers to development languages have not been officially released for public use.   The advantage of coding in both proven languages and those in beta stage is that you get a sneak peek at the future and can make an impact on how the development tools work. This helps Simtech Solutions and their customers maintain a competitive advantage over their peers that are working with older, less powerful technologies.

Examples of Work Performed by Simtech Solutions:

  • Guaranty Bank used our project management and development expertise to lead a successful AS/400 to NT system conversion of an enterprise leasing application comprised of hundreds of programs and millions of data records used to run a $100+ million leasing portfolio.
  • Trailer leasing company PLM International used our consulting services to assess their alternatives to hosting their servers using an in-house data center.   Simtech found better services available through SunGard and assisted in the data center migration that resulted in a 70 percent annual reduction in overall operational costs saving the company roughly $200,000 each year.
  • Our founder, Matt Simmonds, is a contractor with the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) where he has led the design and successful development of a statewide Homeless Management Information System.   He is also leading the conversion and data integration efforts in order to get an unduplicated statewide count on homelessness from 243 different homeless agencies in order to determine the true scope of the issue.  Matt has been a conference speaker on the subject matter at national conferences for Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
  • The National Oilheat and Research Alliance (NORA) contracted Simtech to develop an intranet system that enables them to manage their accreditation system for oilheat technicians.  The Intranet allows NORA to securely access a system where they can grade tests, review test statistics and update records for all students that participate in their oil heat training classes.  Web tests feed data directly into the intranet and the test system is also integrated with a scanner that reads answer sheets for multiple choice tests that are filled in by students using a #2 pencil.
  • One Communications (formerly Conversent) used our services to create the phone bills that they send out to over 100,000 small and medium sized businesses in the Northeast.  Simtech served as a subcontractor for this job.
  • Boston based ExtreamTV hired Simtech Solutions Inc. to create a billing system that enables them to manage revenue for video on demand (VOD), high speed internet, and wireless connectivity for hundreds of major hotels around the US.
